Turn-key double-skin facade
First large-scale project in Belarus to utilize a spider-glazing system. In the absence of local standards and technical support for this type of glazing at the federal level, our engineers conducted a unique analysis based on the EN and British standards, creating a benchmark for future projects of this type construction in this country.

Our Role
In 2004-2006, our Team implemented a "turn-key" approach to facade projects - designed and built the double-skin envelope of the National Library of Belarus (a book depository). At this time, the Team was a part of the BIAL Group
3D-Model
In order the perform installation of laminated glass panels on a 3D body of the building as fast as possible (provided the fact that all glass elements were produced very far from the construction site) our designers created a very precise 3D model of the building. Using this model we ordered all the steel sub-structure elements and glass panels as well as prepared installation drawings and instructions
Project Challenges
Architects required a very complex 3D model of the building (rhombic-cubic-octahedron), as we took on the responsibility for this project - the symbol of the country. Coupled with a reduction of the standard construction period by almost 50%, which created an additional burden for all participants involved in the construction process, we were challenged as a result of significant and excessive deviations of the concrete body.
It is worthwhile to mention that the complex 3D survey of the building was completed by our Team, utilizing the creation of our own network of reference points and transfer of additional points on all 26 planes of the depository. It was an unprecedented work in Belarus in terms of scale, accuracy and speed.
