THE LEADER TOWER
Facade Design
The Leader Tower
Effective media-facade
The project was intended to be, and remains, the tallest tower of the Russian "Northern capital city". As far as the city could boast with only a few high-rises at that time, almost all the requirements and codes applied to this project were non-standard, and in many cases prepared with active participation of our team. We took part in a wind tunnel test and interpretation of the results. This job was done at facilities of a military R & D center that previously specialized in the design of hulls for submarines

Our Role
Complete design work for the 42 floor high-rise facades, along with the integration of media elements (285.000 LED emitters) into a custom modified unitized facade system
Media-facade
Almost 285.000 of RGB LED-emitters were used for the media façade. Due to optimal density of the media elements final cost of the facade was not excessive
Project Challenges
To comply with the project requirements and primarily for the seamless integration of the media-façade, our Team modified the typical unitized systems of Wicona (19 system profiles out of 21). As a result of this work, almost 40 tons of aluminum were saved, resulting in significant benefits for the Client.
When the key activities on the main façade were nearing completion, the Client asked our Team to design a steel bearing construction and façade system for the rooftop area of the building. The curtain walls of the restaurant are equipped with custom designed and automated panoramic windows - ideal for this viewing deck.
